"The Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls is Ghana’s most iconic Waterfall attraction and the highest in the West Africa sub-region. It is a popular and an extremely dramatic Waterfall that pours from a height of approximately Eighty (80) Meters. The Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls has an upper and lower falls with very inviting pools at the base of both falls where the hearty and swimming freaks take their chilly and refreshingly soothing dip."
The lower portion of Wli Falls, often referred to simply as the Lower Falls, is a serene and accessible part of this natural wonder. From the reception area, the journey to the Lower Falls covers a distance of 2.2 kilometers. The walk typically takes between 30 to 40 minutes, depending on factors such as the hiker’s stride, strength, and age. The path is relatively easy, following a level ground that meanders through a lush, tree-covered landscape, making it a leisurely and pleasant experience for visitors of all ages.
The Lower Falls is known for its tranquil atmosphere, where the cascading water creates a peaceful ambiance amidst the surrounding greenery. This part of the falls is a popular spot for visitors who prefer a more relaxed experience, offering an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the falls without the exertion required for the upper portion.
In contrast to the lower portion, reaching the Upper Falls of Wli requires a more strenuous effort. The journey to this higher elevation involves hiking and climbing, making it an adventure for those who are up for the challenge. There are two routes available: the short route and the long route (loop).
The short route is the more direct path but is also steep, demanding significant physical effort from those who choose it. On the other hand, the long route offers a more gradual ascent, with the added reward of scenic viewpoints along the way. These viewpoints provide spectacular vistas of the surrounding landscape, making the longer route a more scenic, albeit time-consuming, option. The hike to the Upper Falls takes between 3 to 4 hours, with the exact duration depending on the hiker’s experience and physical condition.
